This war was started on the pretense that Iraq:
Was a grave threat to the US-they weren't.
Had WMDs-they didn't.
Had a nuclear weapons program-they didn't.
Were tied to 9/11-they weren't.
Was terrorist central-they werent' then, they are now.
We have had numerous milestones that were supposed to make this war easier that have failed to make any difference:
The End of major combat operations (3.31)
The capure/death of Saddam's sons (1.23)
The capture of Saddam (1.62)
The turning over of power to an Iraqi transitional government (2.38)
The American elections (2.13)
The Iraqi elections (3.43)
July 1, 2005(2.03)
Petraeus Congressional "Testimony" on the impact of the Escalation Sept. 10, 2007 (2.54)
US military deaths per day from milestone to milestone in parenthesis.

Why can't US leaders, accept the sunk loss and try to limit future loss? How many more Americans and Iraqis have to die for a catastrophic policy that is doomed to fail?
If you want to know how this ends, the ugly truth is below the fold (the American numbers)...
