I finished two days of weekend GOTV a few hours ago for Jennifer Wexton. It was grueling. I walked over 15 miles counting both days and was in the field at least 6 hours each day. I knocked on close to two hundred doors with my partner in crime and got to see a deer about an 90 minutes before sunset. I had my wife chauffeur us today, because they didn’t need any data entry help which she did yesterday. She was too timid to knock on doors, but she did provide a ton of help by going to get us some lunch, so we could stay in place to knock on doors. As well, she was able to pick us up from point to point, so it cut down on some of the walking we usually do. I want give a shout out to my mom for bringing some food to Hampton University yesterday for Elaine Luria’s canvassers. I would love to post her picture, because I am so proud she got involved. Unfortunately, she would kill me if I posted it.
I don’t have too much to add, though I might in the morning while waiting for my ride to go out and canvass some more. I need to get some sleep.
The point I wanted emphasize is this, we all can help in some way. My wife and mom are very shy, but they were able to help, either by providing food for hungry workers, driving others around, or entering data to have more efficient voter information. There are other things like phone banking that one can do. So if canvassing is not exactly your bag, you can do something else to help us get more Democrats elected. No matter where you live in this country, we could really use your help the last 40 hours or so until polls close. Don’t you think this country is worth it?
